How To Have A Clean and Organised Computer Desk?

organised-computer-deskCluttered computer desks are a common sight in many offices. They impart an untidy and disorganised look to workstations, and can even decrease the work productivity. However, there are several measures which you can adopt for having a clean and organised computer desk. Start by assigning a place to everything and then make it a habit to put everything back where they belong after use. Some of the other useful tips are as follows:

Placing Boxes Under The Desk:
Place three to four boxes under your desk. Keep all the regularly used stuffs in the first box. Use the second box for storing the less used items instead of trying to accommodate them on the table, and do not hesitate if it needs to be placed somewhere out of reach. All the papers that might have got piled up near your computer can find their place in the third box.

Labeling The Drawers:
If your computer desk has additional storage spaces such as drawers or cabinet, use each one of them for storing a particular set of items and label the storage places with sticky notes for identification. Not only will this help to reduce the clutter, but also make it easier to find a certain item when it is needed.

Separate Storage to Accommodate Incoming Papers:
Create a separate space for storing the new papers and other similar items you receive. A free standing file holder or three-tier organiser would be perfect. But do not forget to empty the space after the papers have served their purpose and are no longer useful. However, move the useful ones to the first box that you have kept under the table.

Using Grommets for Cable Management:
In order to give an organised look to the cables and cords from different parts of the computer that keep getting tangled all the time, install a desk power grommet. Feeding cables from the keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc. through a drilled hole on the desktop will not only prevent them from tangling, but also give a neat appearance to the workstation.

Placing a Waste Basket Near the Desk:
Although this one is common sense, some people do forget to keep one. They end throwing everything around the desk and plan to dispose them off later, but ultimately that does not happen and increases the janitor’s cleaning duties. Use a waste basket and dump all scraps of paper, used pens, etc. into it.
